9月14日 久しぶりの快晴なので現場周りをして来ました☀
箱根西麓にあるトウキ畑は順調に生育しており、今月末に、三島そばの種まきをする農地には草がはえ、今後の耕運と肥料投入の必要を確認しました🍃
その後は源兵衛川に行き、ホタルの餌になるカワニナの生息状況と以前、作業した井戸の状況、移植したバイカモの生育状況を確認して来ました。草に覆われ、湧水がほぼ止まっていた井戸が、サポーターの努力で見事に復活して、大量の湧水が噴出していました💧✨

On September 14, blessed with beautiful clear skies for the first time in a while, we visited several of our project sites ☀️
The tōki (Japanese angelica) fields on the western foothills of Mt. Hakone are growing steadily 🌿
We also checked the farmland where we plan to sow Mishima soba seeds at the end of this month. The area was covered with weeds, so we confirmed that tilling the soil and adding fertilizer will be necessary before planting.
Next, we headed to Genbei River.
There, we checked the habitat of kawanishina, the freshwater snails that serve as food for firefly larvae, as well as the condition of a well we had previously worked on and the growth of baika-mo (Japanese water crowfoot) that we transplanted.
The well had once been almost completely covered by vegetation, with very little spring water flowing from it. Thanks to the dedicated efforts of our supporters, it has now been beautifully restored—and a large volume of spring water is once again gushing forth 💧✨
With this, a new “Home of Baika-mo” is taking shape in Mishima, the “City of Water.”
At Groundwork Mishima, we are steadily turning our community development strategy into action: restoring precious environmental resources and transforming them into assets for local revitalization and sustainable tourism.
We will continue to believe in one simple principle:
“Action before discussion.”
